'Dance/Screen: Innovative International Dance Films'
Tues/20, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

GOING TO THE movies is not as affordable as it used to be. Neither is eating out. However, if you like to make a meal of small dishes – think tapas or dim sum – you can get a movie bargain Tuesday at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. This year's "Dance/Screen: Innovative International Dance Films," curated by Charlotte Shoemaker and presented by San Francisco Performances, offers about as varied a menu as you would want. Not surprisingly, most of this year's nine films, culled from festivals around the globe, come from Europe where dance on camera, or dancing cameras, have much more support than in these parts. The lone U.S. entrant, Laurie McLeod's "Yes, She Said," is filmed underwater; its subject, a bride reluctant to commit, is stuck at one end of a pool. "Burnt," from Germany, is filmed in an icy, steely office building that is haunted by its equally ice-cold daytime inhabitants. On the more cheerful side, "Flock of Flyers," from Canada, follows a group of pilots who are about to take to the air.
7 p.m., 701 Mission, S.F. $6. (415) 978-ARTS.
